When my friends first started posting “Why this Kolaveri Di?” song on Facebook one by one, I decided to ignore it. I figured, it’s some song in Tanglish (Tamil+English) and there are many songs of that nature. Then I saw CNN talking about it and decided to finally check it out.
Why this Kolaveri Di
It’s a song that when you first listen, you want to listen to it one more time. After that one more time, you have it in your heard. It keeps playing itself, over and over again. The song became an instant hit and now I know why. It is different and amusing, not like other Tanglish songs. No wonder it’s a viral hit.
Growing up, I remember how “Muqabala” became an instant hit even though it wasn’t mainstream Bollywood. There were many remixes, translations, parodies and made Prabhu Deva a star outside of India. He could dance, even before the son, but no one really knew who he was.
