Dalia Mogahed, an Egyptian American, will advise President Obama on prejudices and problems faced by Muslims. She became the first Muslim veiled woman to be appointed to a position in the White House.
Mogahed heads the Gallup American Center for Muslim Studies, a non-governmental research center providing data-driven analysis on the views of Muslim populations around the world. Mogahed will keep her full time job at Gallup while serving as an advisor.
Obama is taking all the steps that Bush avoided during his eight years. Appointing a Muslim woman to an advisory council is a symbolic gesture by Obama, similar to what he did on Persian New Year. In few days that he has been in office, he has shown the world how he is different from his predecessor who was only interested in war and destruction.
I wish Mogahed all the best…
