It saddens me to see that Pakistan is now on its way to complete destruction. Stone age Taliban rule has been imposed in once the most scenic part of Pakistan, the Swat valley also known as “Switzerland of Pakistan.” NWFP where most of the pro-Taliban people who were displaced from the war in Afghanistan reside is on its way, slowly but surely, towards the complete implementation of Sharia law. This is the exact same Sharia law that was being practiced in Afghanistan before the U.S. invasion.

Switzerland of Pakistan – Swat Valley
The province of NWFP is not considered to have high concentration of educated intellectuals who can run the province and lead it towards a path of recovery and prosperity. Most people who reside in the region are average people who are usually swayed to take sides and because of lack of understanding of the real teachings of Quran, fall prey to people who have a twisted and diabolical view on anything that is not according to Islam.
Don’t forget that these are the same extremists’ insurgents who have terrified the inhabitants of swat valley for months, sending thousands fleeing to safer areas. They have bombed girls’ schools, beheaded policemen, whipped criminals in public squares and assassinated activists who don’t agree with their version of Islam.
It’s all downhill from now, I wish things get better soon and Pakistan eradicates Taliban insurgency and gives back Pakistan to its own people and not outsiders.

Well, you can be sure with Obama, we aren’t going to step in and do anything about it.
It is a very bleak picture you paint, but interesting to read and learn more about.
I saw an interesting campaign in the news lately which is profiling successful people here in the UK who are from Pakistani origin and broadcasting this abroad with the aim of highlighting the equal opportunities and merits of the west and the UK in particular. The aim is to counter act some of the negative attitudes currently prevalent in their media.
However it’s a very dangerous game and could be viewed as nothing more than western propaganda. I feel that perhaps this will only reach those people who are able to think for themselves already, whether it will appeal to the ‘average’ person as you describe them is another matter.
I really hope it works though, I think information and understanding are the important things here. The more people know the more the understand and accept and education is key. I’m not talking about teaching a specific view, but giving people the means to think for themselves and decide what is right, not blinding accept what they are being told.
this is all fault of Pakistan. If they would not give support to talibanies and terrorists then they would not have to see this problem today. But now talibanies will change the map of Pakistan. But may be America will try to clear this problem but not for Pakistan but only for getting rid of terrorism.
Now, talibans have found another afganistan in the most beautiful part of pakistan. Pakistan government has to take some stern steps against talibans, otherwise one day, they will capture whole pakistan. The main problem is, there are some orthodox muslims who support and fund taliban. Good, educated muslims should come up and raise their voice like you did via your blog.
This is really a shame and scarry to hear. I hope for the best for the government of Pakistan and its citizens!
Well, It is the result of Pakistan’s bad events. They are self responsible for this.
This is really a twisted version of the Pakistan Taliban.
Wonderful post! I especially can so appreciate your last paragraph.
It’s crazy how Pakistan has let things get out of control in that region. If they would just have some order and cooperate things would be better for many in the region.
Salam Alaykum,
This seems like a horror story, and is rather sadistic. We as Muslims are the only ones who can tackle such problems, and that is to find a way to speak to our brothers and sisters, find out where the confusion began, and help them get back on the right path (insha Allah).
I don’t understand the statement about Obama. If anything he has stepped up strikes in the region. He also wants to take troops out of Iraq and put them into Afghanistan.
Oh well. It’s too bad that the conflict can’t just stay a local problem.

Well, the scenery in this blog is cool which is refreshing mind.
