At the recent Democratic National Convention, of more than 4,400 delegates there, about 20 to 40 were Muslims according to several Muslim political organizers. This is way better than Republican National Convention where it was hard to even see anyone of color.
A keyword search of the 2008 Democratic Party Platform retrieves the following paragraph on pg. 30 under “Combat Terrorism:”
“We will pursue policies to undermine extremism, recognizing that this contest is also between two competing ideas and visions of the future. A crucial debate is occurring within Islam. The vast majority of Muslims believe in a future of peace, tolerance, development, and democratization. A small minority embrace a rigid and violent intolerance of personal liberty and the world at large. To empower forces of moderation, America must live up to our values, respect civil liberties, reject torture, and lead by example. We will make every effort to export hope and opportunity-access to education, that opens minds to tolerance, not extremism; secure food and water supplies; and health care, trade, capital, and investment. We will provide steady support for political reformers, democratic institutions, and civil society that is necessary to uphold human rights and build respect for the rule of law.”
A keyword search of the 2008 Republican Party Platform retrieves the following paragraph on pg. 12 under “The Middle East:”
“The struggle in which we are engaged is ideological, not ethnic or religious. The extremists we face are abusers of faith, not its champions. We appreciate the loyalty of all Americans whose family roots lie in the Middle East, and we gratefully acknowledge the contributions of American Arabs and Muslims, especially those in the Armed Forces and the intelligence community.”
After reading the above quotes it is no surprise that Muslims lean towards Obama because Democrats seem to have more diplomacy in their blood then Republicans will ever have. We have all seen this in the past 8 years.
Check out this interesting video of three Muslim girls talking to a reporter at the DNC.

It seems that we saw a similar herd mentality by Muslims in 2000 election where Muslim voted in large numbers for George W. Bush and many Muslim PACS took credit for Bush’s victory.
Today, Muslims are rushing headlong into supporting Obama. I fear that Muslims have learned nothing from past experience. Obama has already shown his willingness to bend over backwards to satisfy anti-Muslim and anti-Pak lobbies in the US. Please read:

I have a very similar view Riaz. The only reason Bush won in the Florida recount was because 40,000 muslims voted for him there. It is a swing state, no doubt!
Bush is no friend of Muslims, he showed that in the past 8 years. Obama is pretty much like him, Muslims like him for some odd reason or maybe just because they don’t want to see 4 more years of Republicans in power.
Obama has this habbit of going out of line and disassociating himself from everything Muslim. We all know he is doing this because he wants to get elected and we all get it.
No one can predict the future and for muslims this time around it is basically voting for a lesser evil, not an ideal candidate.
Funny how republican’s wouldn’t elect Mitt Romney to represent their ticket because he is a mormon. Now they are going to lose the election to the Democrat ticket ran by a muslim. You can’t always get what you want.
Obama is not a Muslim James… I am sure you know that too
