I finally got to see The Kite Runner last night. AMC wasn’t showing it any place when I first checked in November but now they definitely are after the two golden globe nominations the movie has received.
Let me start by saying that the movie is not exactly the book, which means, it’s not word by word. That’s how all the movies that are adaptations of novels are made. The Kite Runner still gets the story straight and its been very well directed. The Kite scenes are excellent and occasional humor is very pleasant.
The two kids do excellent job but I would still say that Hassan was wayyyy better than Amir. The Amir kid lacked something, his facial expressions were not that loud but Hassan was too good with his face, his eyes said a lot.
There are some really touching scenes in the movie, the rape scene and the stadium scene, I think they were shot in a very realistic and compelling way.
It is a very good movie, I suggest you read the book before you go to see the movie as it will prove to be beneficial in case you get stuck some place as almost 60% of the film is in Afghani language.
