Nice way to start the day I guess. Go online, goto Yahoo! and see that Pakistan is in the headlines at number two position and not for something good, that would be a surprise, but for something that I feared would happen this time specially with what’s been going on in Iraq.
Sunni extremists attacked Shiite Muslim mosque in this northwestern Pakistani city late Saturday, killing at least 15 people. City police chief was also one of the casualty and other officers of police also died. The day of Ashoura is coming so this will now happen all over Pakistan because it’s happening in Iraq, Lebanon and how can Pakistan stay behind. It’s a 1400 year old feud between two main branches of Islam where no one seems to be willing to work things out considering this is not stone age and a civil society can only exist when people believe in humanity. So much for the religion of “Peace”.
There was also a bombing yesterday at Marriott in Islamabad where the damage was minimum. All these cases involved suicide bombers.
Pakistan after few days will put two people in jail and say they work for India and are trying to create unrest which is obviousy false because Pakistan never accepts these things on the basis of what the facts say.
Can we call this thing an insurgency in Pakistan? NO! We have to call this “The Side-Affect of Keeping quiet when Muslims are being killed around the world by Muslims themselves in the name of Islam”
