A court had to decide this question in a lawsuit filed by a sandwich maker in a mall because there was this other food place opening up that sold burritos. According to the sandwich maker, they had a lease with the mall owners that put a clause in the contract that another sandwich place couldn’t open in the same mall. For them, a Mexican grill selling burritos is in their view selling sandwiches.
This is funny as well as stupid as hell. Let me tell you what the court said, burrito is not a sandwich. They referred to the Webster dictionary and some USFDA official.
Ask your self, sandwich is anything that has two slices of bread or bun. Burrito is one piece of tortilla wrapped with beans etc. So of course burrito is not a sandwich.
